we've narrowed it down to basically 3 boats a Quintrex 481 escape, Savage Scorpion 500 and stessco sunseeker 510. A bit concerned about the stessco as some of the forums have given them mixed reports.

I'd go the Savage as that little bit extra size will be quite noticable. also Quintrex in the last few years have been lowering their quality, no where near as good as their boats built before 2000.

most importantly you need to test drive one with 4 people in it, just to get a feel of how that will go. im sure you could fit 4 (just) but comfort wise it depends on the type of fishing you intend to do.

good luck!

Hi guys thanks for all your help. Just to update we bought the Stessco 510 sunseeker 2008 with a 70hp Yamaha 2 stroke engine, its a much better boat then we ever thought we could afford. Bigger, roomier, newer and with both an electric anchor and trailer winch. Presents beautifully even for a boat its age. Thanks for all your help.

Had a bit of concern about the Stessco initially but did more research spoke to some people and they alleyed my fears.

Does anybody know a good mechanic in the South East of Melbourne?
