Bring On Another Thousand (boat)

Post by Nude up » Sun Feb 09, 2014 6:05 pm

After the issue last weekend with my trailer and today being to windy to take the boat out I thought I would have a look at my batteries I got the impression they may be on the way out.
To my surprise I found the problem straight away both batteries were fully charged but only one would supply power when I checked the leads to the battery selector one came away in my hands. Here are both battery leads 1 separated and the other on the way out.
As all ways to late to get another one will have to pick one up mon so I can fish tue.

What size is that cable? Tell me the lengths you need and Ill happily make you up a few new leads (crimped and heat shrunk) for a grand lol. Ill even chuck in a tube of no-ox

I'm only joking but a few new leads sourced locally shouldn't be more than $100?

 , unless the copper in the wire has gone brittle and white/green chalky also.

If you have an old spare set of decent jumper leads for cars that you don't use or need, one of these cables can be used, just replace the clips with terminals. Cheap fix.

Cheers , Rick.

Just had two new leads made (tinned copper) at the local mechanic at portarlington $49 now off to fit them and relocate the battery selector switch off the floor what were they thinking when the batteries were installed. I hope it wasn't haines who installed the twin batteries.
