Trailer Troubles argghh!

Post by Beno » Mon Dec 19, 2011 6:32 pm

Hey guys

This is getting beyond a joke now its been over a month and I still haven't been able to get the boat in the water! Every other boat trailer I see has the bolts on the rims? This has just a pin that holds it into place that is why we have to get a certain rim before we can put the tyre on? This was a custom made trailer and is quite old early 1990's. We don't want to pay another grand or so but I am fearing that we might have to get a new axle and tyres all together if we cant find these parts.... Going to My marine in dromana tomorrow so hopefully they can solve the problem.

If anyone has any ideas feel free to share!

Theres my rant

If it's a standard axle(stub) size, then you should be able to buy hubs to fit, iin any stud pattern you like.
In no wy, should it end up costing you a grand to do this either.

You should be able to purchase a new bearing & hub kit for approx $200.00 + or so & then fit it all up with plenty of grease , this should be a fairly straight forward procedure .

Cheers all for the help, thats the thing Im not sure? Me and my dad know nothing about trailers and we thought it looked odd that it didn't have the bolts compared to every other boat trailer. We went to a tyre place and they made it sound so complicated??? Hopefully tommorow my marine will clear it up. At least I know now it isn't too much of a hard job if someone is able to do it. :)

I can come up and show you how to take it off if you like and try to explain what you can do to change it.
