Bowl,

I too have been thinking of respraying my tinnie.

Have you considered doing it yourself, you can pick up a one of these DIY sprayguns from Bunnings. Just need to make sure you prep it propertly and the paint mixture is suitable to flow thru the gun.

The longest part is the prep work, if you could do it yourself, and then hand it over to the sprayer, it "should" cost less.

All the works in the prep bowl, you need to rub it back to bare aluminum for the best result, clean it down with a cleaner that doesn't leave any residue then spray on an etch primer before your colour. Price just depends on the quality of paint you use. Anywhere from $250 up, good luck!

As has been said prep work is by far the most important , as the final paintjob will only be as good as your prep. I've done a few boats over the years these are my last 2 , etch prime the Alloy and make sure everything is clean. I used Killrust Enamel Paint and have found it to be very hard wearing and very easy to touch up scratches etc. Being an epoxy enamel it has a great shine straight off the gun , you can even paint it on with a brush and when dry sand smooth and polish.
