Trailer stolen at Altona ramp
Hi just a heads up ,
I heard on the weekend, a trailer was recently stolen at Altona ramp.
The poor bloke had to borrow a trailer from a fishing club in Williamstown to get his boat up.
Hope the Karma bus hits the thief head on.

Re: Trailer stolen at Altona ramp
Poor bugger. That's a downright bloody low act. Geez that makes me angry!!
It happens a hell of a lot more than people realise. I can't emphasize enough the importance of putting locks on your trailers guys.
I had a mate call me for help about midnight last Christmas Eve, telling me he'd come back to the ramp to find that his trailer was gone. Luckily my boat was the same size, so I had to dump it on the lawn and go get him with my trailer. It certainly put a big dampener on his Christmas.
I've also heard about an incident at Werribee where a fella came in one night to find his trailer missing. He had to tie his boat to the jetty so he could source out another trailer, only to find when he got back to the ramp, that those same pricks had taken his boat as well.
It really makes my blood boil!!
Based on how much money anglers pump into ramp fees and licensing in this state, where the hell are the surveilance cameras???

Re: Trailer stolen at Altona ramp
how could someone steal a trailer and not be noticed? surely someone had to see them taking it off of the car to put on another car.

Couldn't agree more with both of these statements!Redhunter wrote: It really makes my blood boil!!

Not fishing related but I catch the train to work most days and being a chef I sometimes don't get back to my car until late at night. In the last few years ive had my car window smashed, my number plates stolen, the badge off my car stolen and had both sides of my car keyed. All separate incidents and at 3 different train stations. So naturally when I park at the boat ramp etc to go fishing I am always worried about my car being broken in to.
EDIT: Oh yeah, just remembered we had our boat stolen from our driveway when I was a kid. It was a 16' cuddy cabin. The next door neighbour saw them taking it and didn't think anything of it lol.

Re: Trailer stolen at Altona ramp
Amazed that someone could do that unseen at a busy ramp like Altona.

They steal the trailer to steal the boat as some people, as mentioned above, have to leave their boat docked. Once the poor guy leaves his boat, the guys wait and then steal the boat.

Re: Trailer stolen at Altona ramp
boat ramps and parking is absolutely full on weekends and so it is extremely easy to pinch another persons trailer without anyone noticing.
This has happened at Carrum as well.
