Call me old fashioned, but I don't think cheap and life jacket should really go together. A cheap headlamp is fine, but something your life might depend on may be worth investing a little more on.

not a great answer as how long do you think you could swim if you fell out of a boat or the boat sunk

I think the most important piece of safety gear you have on board with you is a PFD and should be worn
I hear people saying they can swim to shore it's only 500 meters or less
atm I think the water tenps are about 14 deg so so the Lack of dexterity will start in 10 - 15 min in the water if not dressed right for imertion - and very few fishing from a boat will be in a wet suit or dry suit
Death from Hypothermia in this water temp atm would take 1 - 6 hours of imertion depending on the persons body weight and fitness
however Death from drowning is a breath away if you dont float you drown it's that simple
My kayak PBs
Gummy shark 128 Cm - Elephant fish 85 Cm - Snapper 91 Cm - KG Whiting 49 Cm - Flathead 55 Cm - Garfish 47 Cm - Silver Trevally 40 Cm - Long Tail Tuna 86 Cm - snook 64 Cm - Couta 71 Cm - Sth Calamari 44 Cm hood - Cobia 117 cm

I have a stormy inflatable jacket.

Perfect in winter as it is very warm and offers great protection from the elements.

But way too warm in summer.

You can remove the sleeves to turn it into a vest but still too warm.

I am thinking about getting a yoke for the hot days.
