Tinnie Ideas?

Post by Beno » Sun Oct 09, 2011 11:26 am

Hey Guys

Decided to upgrade to a newer tinnie as the old one is pretty much all gone.

I was thinking one out of these two.....

V/nose punt: http://www.boatsales.com.au/boats-for-s ... ?R=7037218

V Dinghy: http://www.boatsales.com.au/boats-for-s ... ?R=7037220

Anyone know which one would be better for PPB or any other info about these boats?

Cheers Beno

Go with the 3.85 V Dinghy , it will handle PPB much better than the V punt .

Cheers Miker I was Thinking more the deeper V. People have said though it is more stable at rest the V punt because it is more rounded at the backside.

Also I was thinking of buying one of these trailers http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/170700794484 ... _500wt_969

Do you think a 4 meter tinnie would fit okay on one of these? Not sure if it is risky because its only 10cm over?

V Dinghy would be heaps better in PPB but as you said the Punt would be more stable but would struggle with the chop that PPB presents as most times.

Go the Dinghy, and TABS IMO, pretty good.

Just 1 extra bit of advise. Stick to brand that you know well. I bought a SunRunner as my first boat and I sold it within 10 months. What a peice of ..... when the chop was up, when the water was flat, it was OK.

You will fit a 4m Dinghy on that trailer , but if you can pay slightly more get a 4m trailer to suit .
