my old jhonson 35 hp died have been offered a 40 hp 4cylinder mariner magnum any one got one and what do you think cheers

Mariner are made by Mercury Marine & are generally very well built, reliable motors, albeit not as 'developed' as the Mercury product.
As long as it has been properly looked after it should be a good motor.

The 40 Magnum is a crossflow induction & not loop charged (prefer loop charged) , they are decent engines . Just be sure to check the comp in each cylinder & check the gear box condition & water pump .

thanks fellas she past all tests so its mine just have to fit it up boat has been resprayed new checker plate floor and floor also lifted 100mm live well installed new wireing ext because motor is a lot heaver than the old johno im thinking of fitting under floor fual tank abit more forward when it all done ill post some pics cheers rob
