Also might be hard to launch with some very tight river access along the Yarra.
I mainly fish the Spindrift almost exclusively In PPB - this will be an ok creek boat and has a shallow draft and can take a pounding. But from what you're telling me, a kayak would be a better bet simply because if you're thinking rapids, dragging over rocks, etc then a kayak is lighter and better for you.
I've had my Spindrift out to P2 in Altona - Not recommended for the inexperienced.
Also, I've been out in tinnies up to 4m, they have no where near the stability of this. Being polyethylene means SUPER STABLE. Combine that with twin hull you have a super stable light fishing platform. I chased snapper around Port Melbourne and Altona this snapper season in it, no problems.
You do get some monkeys laughin at ya coz it's green and small lol - but coming back to the ramp with a decent sized snapper when they caught nothing quickly puts an end to that.
Point being, this was not designed to be a saltwater beast, more freshwater. But for me I find it's great for the whiting, squid and snapper when it's on. This is mainly what I fish for anyway.
Goodluck to everyone.
Hornet post up some pics when you get it pal, goodluck with it. You won't be disappointed.
P.S that duck canoe is no good for the bay, I looked into them years ago... have a closer look at the hull. It's a duck hunting boat for fresh water and designed for US waters not Aussie waters.. our bay is much rougher !
