I'd suggest having a look at the Quintrex 4.2 meter dory.
Great boat in this size.
Good, deep hull, so it's fairly safe in a bit of chop.
Well suited to motors of 20-40hp. Also easilyy handled by one person.
Usually not too hard to find one around the 8-10K $ mark (new).
If you then have a folding canopy made up for it you'll find it'll be quite comfortable & very practical for bay fishing.

I'd also suggest learning how to 'bridle' anchor when fishing.
There's two ways of doing this.
The best IMO is to use two anchors set out at the bow at roughly 30-45 degrees.
The second way is to use a single anchor & a bridle rope/clip.
The idea of bridling is to prevent the boat from swinging excessivly at anchor.
It will make fishing much more comfortable fvor you, especially in a smaller boat.

I saw the quintrex at Jv for 7k brand new with new 15 hp motor and trailer and rego.
