Bought a boat! Location Help!

Post by Mawf » Mon Feb 11, 2013 8:28 am

Hey guys,

So i finally purchased myself a Boat, Nothing flash, just a simple fishing boat, Stejcraft half Cabin.

My original plan was to use this boat mainly in PPB, but i want to stay out of the way of other more experienced boaters while i get the hang of things, can anyone point me in the direction of somewhere else where:

1. It would be easy to launch while im still getting the hang of things,
2. A few fish here and there
and 3. Somewhere withing 1-2 hours of Melbourne that i could potentially camp at aswell.

All help is appreciated!!

Thanks

Phil

Rosebud through to Sorrento.. plenty of fish and camping spots especially around Rye/Rosebud.

While you're getting the feel for it, definitely stay clear of ramps like mornington, st kilda, patterson river, you've almost always got somewhat of a queue at those ramps and many very impatient boaters who think they own the place because they've had a boat for years and don't want novices slowing down their process...

Just pick a good calm day and try to launch very early in the morning to avoid the traffic at the ramp until you get used to it.

Congratulations on the boat mate  Maybe try Lake Eppalock it's only about an hour and a half from Melbourne there are plenty of places to camp and would be a good spot to practice.

Cheers Steve
