Vroom Vroom

Post by Whiskers » Mon Aug 19, 2019 8:54 pm

About ten months or so ago I had the offer of a free tinny and motor from an old mate down in Melbourne, all I had to do was go and get it, about a 700km round trip for me.

It was too good an offer to refuse and for the last eight or nine months it's just been sitting in my back yard. I hadn't done anything with it until now. I have mainly been doing house renovations.

Anyway, over the course of the last week or so i have been fixing it up a bit. The motor hadn't been started for three or four years (15hp Evinrude) and there was still probably four or five litres of old fuel in the tank.

Obviously the fuel was crap so it was drained and disposed of.

I've stripped the motor, carby and fuel pump (all gummed up with old fuel) reassembled it and all seemed to be well.

Today was the day to test it. With the leg of the motor in a dustbin full of water and a bit of trepidation we gave it a few pulls and she fired up on the fourth pull. A little bit of tuning to the idle settings and she's purring like a kitten.

Just going to freshen up the paintwork a bit and do some basic fitting out and I'll be right to go. With Spring just around the corner the fish had better look out.
