Transfering boat and trailer rego
Hi guys,
Been looking at buying a used boat for a while now and was wondering if anyone has bought one from interstate and registered it here in Victoria recently. Just want to know is this straight forward and is there a special process, eg: does the trailer need a roadworthy certificate or do you just turn up to vic roads with your proof of purchase and transfer paperwork and pay the fee's required.
Had a look on vicroads website but couldn't find much relating to boats and trailers.
Cheers

Re: Transfering boat and trailer rego
Don't know about a boat and trailer
Your normal transfer papers are not what an interstate authority want.
There's a different form to cancel registration in one state and register in another
You will need a RWC for the trailer & possibly something for the boat
I brought a hilux in Queensland & just let the reg. expire & just rego'd in Victoria
Good luck with your purchase, I don't mean to put you off

So just the same as a normal vic rego smile?
Only saying that because when I bought my tradie top trailer just needed to have a vicroads inspection and do the paperwork.

I was in Motor Reg here in SA couple of weeks ago and was talking to a guy who wanted to talk , , , , release some of his frustrations. He had bought a car in SA (as he lives here) and was going to transfer it to his Daughter who lives in Victoria. Not sure the kafuffle, but he left after being seen too, saying if he knew he wouldn't have bought the car.Texas wrote: ↑Sat Aug 10, 2019 7:13 pmDon't know about a boat and trailer

Here in SA, it normally is a transfer slip, pay the fee , , , , and magic , , , , the Government has your money , , , , Oh, and the car is registered in your name.
So with the road worthy you guys need to do there, not sure if it was that or if it was a transfer issue too. From what I gathered from the guys frustrated ramblings, it was more a transfer issue on top of the roadworthy

Re: Transfering boat and trailer rego
Don't need a road worthy for boat or work trailers
Just need inspection by cos roads staff
