Excerpt from PI&SR Advertiser
"LAST Sunday night's ferocious storm took its toll on a hapless young couple out fishing in the bay in the afternoon.
As the sea got rougher, they headed to the Anderson Road boat ramp, and lowered their boat trailer on to the ramp to bring their vessel in.
But the waves were too strong for them, and after many unsuccessful attempts the boat finally ran out of petrol, and became marooned on the ramp"
To sum it up after being unable to get the boat on the trailer the motor in their Range Rover failed with a smoke cloud emanating. This left the young couple sleeping in their car overnight. They got assistance some time Monday with a tow truck helping retrieve the car and boat in very terrible conditions. Pictured is a modern Range Rover and a 6m plus fibreglass cruiser.
For those who don't know Cowes boat ramp is exposed in a North wind which was forecast to come up strong on Sunday afternoon with a strong west wind change for Monday morning which Cowes ramp is also exposed to. Cowes ramp can also be difficult on a low tide depending on the sand build up.
What I wonder is do people not check the weather forecast and tides for the day before heading out mistakes happen but ignorance is not an excuse the BOM had issued a strong wind warning I fished offshore on Sunday for nothing worth reporting but was well aware I had to come in well before the change.
Storm takes its toll.

Re: Storm takes its toll.
Fortunately due to the sand build up on the ramp no damage was done to the hull.
