Flood Lead Acid Deep Cycle in Boat

Post by sputnik » Tue Feb 19, 2019 10:33 am

Hey guys,

Currently in the process of installing a completely isolated battery for my fish finder and l.e.d lights. I am looking at running a century 65 amp hour deep cycle battery that is not a sealed unit but rather a regular deep cycle with the filler caps up top. Is this type of battery (lead acid) fine to use on a fishing boat or should i be looking into the AGM (sealed) types?

What is everyone else running in terms of deep cycles?

If it is being located in the cabin get a sealed battery.

Agree with sir coldpod. Agm all the way. Generally speaking better performance and the lack of gassing off on charge means you can keep them in enclosed spaces plus they can be installed in any orientation.
