Identifying a boat

Post by nathanbourne » Thu Nov 22, 2018 7:16 pm

Hi Everyone,
I'm thinking of purchasing this boat from someone, but he does not know the year, make or mode. Is someone able to help figure out what this is?

Thanks

Does the id plate have any info on it ? or the rego papers ? welcome to the site :welcome:

The shape resembles a brand called "white pointer" from memory.

Be careful....cheack out everything on the boat and trailor and then cheack I'd plate...

If it's a very cheap price...cheack everything twice

My advice would be to be "cautious". Not in a negative or positive way. If no brand name and no ID plate, and no reference as to how it cane to be, you could be dealing with anything there mate. It could be a home-made job, a custom job, or possibly hot enough to cook an egg on. Without knowing facts, who knows....

That boat should have a PLATE identifying it, if it doesn;t then it is stolen.
The plate gives the hull number, horsepower, etc

In addition you cant register it until you have a hull number.

Yep. Second hand boat with no rego numbers. No previous rego paperwork. No I'd plate = stolen. Without all that no chance of rego. Boat is worthless.
There's nothing . . . absolutely nothing . . . half so much worth doing as simply messing around in boats.

He said that he had registered the boat 3 months ago, is providing me with the papers tonight.

I'm more worried about not knowing the Model, year of manufacture etc... Does this de value the boat a lot?

Thanks for all your help, I'm only purchasing a boat for my first time!

Note you said he didn;t know the model, year or make, but then you write he registered it 3 months ago.

You can;t register a boat without knowing the make, model, the year.

All this points to the boat being stolen. so if you purchase it, it can be taken off of you at anytime and you do not get compensation.
