A shipping container would be less than $2K (you can take it with you if you move)

purple5ive wrote:whats the benefits of actually having a boat travel cover?

apart from the obvious dust not settling on the boat when its in storage, what other benefits are there?

i considered one just for the front of my boat as mine is a centre console and the console itself actually gets bugs splattered on it everytime i travel at night.
im not sold on the whole reducing drag thing either (specially in mycase where its even more obvious with the console sticking up past the car)
but what else would it help with, 2.5k is quite a lot of money for a cover
Rods can be kept in the boat away from.prying eyes

I wouldn’t use a cover during transport. I’m only interested in keeping the boat out of the weather when stored. I don’t have a shed or area big enough to keep it in ( out of the weather)
I park the boat beside the house.
Just want to keep the sun from deteriorating the whole lot - boat, trim, electronics etc etc.
And to stop water pooling inside corners I guess.
My trailcraft is just beside.the house with only a travel cover and the seats stay dry floors stay dry

It’s over 7-8 meters boat/motor/trailer in a tight spot beside the house, and I can’t build anything attached to the fence.
There’s only enough room to squeeze by on one side, depending on how I park the boat.
For now, I’m stuck storing the boat outside, after I win tatts it won’t be an issue ha ha ha.

On overnight trips I leave my swag set up in the boat...the cover makes a great tent to sleep under

I have the same problem my Haines is taller than the house I can not fold down the rocket launchers I bought a cover from the cover guys when I bought my 650 about 4 years ago the cover I bought was 6.5 to 7 mt I should have bought the 6 to 6.5 it covers the boat down to below the water line and extends past the engine.
It is semi fitted has an extension for the bow spit takes about 15 minutes to fit the only thing gone wrong it has slightly faded. It is not designed to travel with I have a seperate travel cover for long trips. I leave my clears on my boat and the cover covers them I put tube foam padding on my out rigger bases and on the tubes on the rocket launcher no holes tears.

If it’s lasted 4 years must be pretty good.
The last one I bought ripped at the seams after only 6 months. After many emails and sending them pics of the cover, they eventually agreed to send a new one back under warranty.
If I have any other problems might look into these guys.
Cheers
