The blue seas website has some good info to follow to suit the setup you choose Col. Definitely worth a look so you can make your own informed choice.

Re: Getting on with boat re-build
Yeah, its a great web site rb, full of good stuff.
This is where I was saying before, the owner emailed me and said he'll make contact when we are both back from holidays and he will help me get everything together that I'll need. I think they also offer, after first purchase, if your ordering more stuff, it's freight free.
Also, With the switches, came a pretty good schematic of best practice wiring them in, for me, brilliant !!
This holiday has now become an unwanted speed hump !
I want to wire !!! Lol.

If your battery 1 cant handle bring charged while driving and then run basic electronic from it you should replace it amd have batt 2 and a spare just incaserb85 wrote:Because nobody makes mistakes smile......
Col not just for charging but if set up correctly will protect your start battery from draining eg if you run equipment thats on your house battery all night like you say the VSR will detect a drop in voltage separating the batteries so you don't drain your start up battery.

Re: Getting on with boat re-build
So carry 3 batteries? The main thing is being able to start your motor a basic selector switch can be forgotten placed n the incorrect position allowing an already deteriorated battery to drain another I would prefer peace of mind.smile0784 wrote:If your battery 1 cant handle bring charged while driving and then run basic electronic from it you should replace it amd have batt 2 and a spare just incaserb85 wrote:Because nobody makes mistakes smile......

Re: Getting on with boat re-build
Got my new switch panels, existing hole 15mm too wide Bugga it, but cut the hole for the new second one.
Also cut two new lids for back bait/storage area, used 12 mm marine ply which was lying around. Have to get some new s/s hinges, previous owner removed the original lids. So there is my next question, epoxy resin the lid, or would a marine sealer varnish be suffice ???

Re: Getting on with boat re-build
The standard in gunwale rod holders are 30 deg yeah ?????
Been tinkering with back lids, coming up good actually, ran out of time to get stainless bolts, have to do when I return.
My rear rod holders are set forward of the stern by about 500mm, which even with a 1 meter boom on my down rigger, I would prefer it to have more clearance out the back of the motor. So getting another s/s rod holder for one side, and installing it further back which well clears the motor and changing my fuel filler, which was a standard fit in the damn engine well ( crazy ), to the same position but other side. so 30 deg std yeah ?

Re: Getting on with boat re-build
Kickin back and having a lay day, Caves Coast, seaward side of Lake Macquarie.
Wind blowing a small gale, would not be comfortable out in it.
Nice wee seaside cabins make it a great spot.
Need that good weather to arrive, But I'll take this any day....
