Are kill tanks worth it?
Im thinking of putting a kill tank in the floor for when we get a good catch in the boat
Who has one and are they worth putting in?
How often do you use them?
Someone said that not a good idea in plate boats cos they heat up to much?
Can anyone confirm this?
Cheers ricki

Re: Are kill tanks worth it?
We got 1 with our boat when we bought it. I never thought Id use it.
Its great. Ideal for gummies snapper couta pike. Used to put squid in there but its a pain to clean when it gets inked so i just hang them over the side in a keeper bag so theres no mess.
I put 3 bags of ice in there and a little saltwater and it will stay like that for a day which keeps the fish in tip top condition

It’s no good as a replacement esky, ice will melt within an hour on a hot day. I only use my kill tank to bleed out fish before they go in the esky, that’s about it.

Just make sure you remember to bring it in when you drive off. Ive lost a few nets and lots of fish through the old brain fadesmile0784 wrote:Hadn't thouhjt of the keeper net idea for squidcrumpet_avenger wrote:We got 1 with our boat when we bought it. I never thought Id use it.

Take the rope from the keeper net and the burley cage and tie it to your steering, that way you remember.

Re: Are kill tanks worth it?
I have a plate boat with a kill tank.
Its a good idea.
I use it often to put fish in the bay with ice and salt water
On longer trips i use it for storage.
Cheers bm
