I have been told that-- Victorian Police will be cracking down on cars that are towing overweight trailers.
Northern Queensland already checks heaps of tourists.
Apparently quite a few do not comply with manufacturers specifications.

Re: Touching on part of "car & boat combo"
Gra, the gippsland area has already had a couple of police blitz on cars & trailers in the last 18 months. They set up in Bairnsdale and have pinged lots for overweight, oversize trailers, old D shackles, lights, rego etc. I heard earlier in the week from a mate who was pinged for a trailer 5cm over width on no signage for the "oversize trailer". It was his boat that hung out wider. Its worth checking your trailers dims & even run it over a weigh bridge sometime when loaded with fuel & gear.
Can only be a good thing to crack down, have seen a vehicles on the road with boats a lot bigger than the stated car towing ability. All good in the dry & not so good in the wet.

Re: Touching on part of "car & boat combo"
I can say that in this recent 2 hour old thunderstorm.
My non braked trailer was certainly making its presence felt on the wet roads.
ABS was kicking in at almost all reasonably decent braking attempts.
Will have to be carefull with it.
Ill.have to get it weighed soon to see if I'm on the right track. Initial calculatioms are under 750kg all up. But you never know

Even wth mechanical breakes you still will be activating the abs on your car in those conditions.purple5ive wrote:I can say that in this recent 2 hour old thunderstorm.

The can has pull up befor the spring on the hitch in compressed to pull on break cable.
Only really way i personally think to stop that is to get electronic brakes so trailer starts to pull up the instand break pedal is compressed
