Fish Finder suggestions and advice

Post by STriplett1997 » Sun Nov 26, 2017 3:53 pm

Hey all,

i'm in deep need of upgrading my current sounder. Currently i have a very old, basic unit called the Garmin Fishfinder100. its not in colour and its very hard to read fish on, reads bottom well. Anyway as im still relatively new to boating and fishing in the bays, i know almost nothing about whats considered a good or bad sounder. I don't really want the fancy stuff, or to pay too much $$$.. i just want one that will do the job and read Snapper arches well. A couple mates of mine have suggested Lowrance HOOK series 3 or 4 to fit budget and claim that they read well. Can anyone give me some direction, advice or your personal experiences with brands? cheers everyone!

If you have a bit more go furuno. More importantly learn how each sounder works.

7 inch Lawrance chirp are ok for aroud 900.
Lot of people have them.

All depends on how much you want to spend

Can put a 2000 sounder if you want

Bcf have
Garmin striker 4 inch for 200
But i would save up for
Lawrance hook 5 inch for 750 or club member 600.

Personally i go for the combo
