Re: Old boat fuel disposal
2l of water in the mix the fuel is stuffed. I doubt the mower will run for long with it.
Put it in a container and take it to the local waste disposal center.

How much fuel to how much water water you have?
If you let it sit for while is fuel heavyer them water so fuel seperated to bottom so you can sythom off aome of the water and then your fuel filter could handle the rest

Re: Old boat fuel disposal
I poured maybe 8 litres out of the tank into a bucket. It looked old but maybe usable in the car or lawn mower, and so I transferred it to a 20l fuel container. I then tipped the last 2.5 litres out of the tank into the bucket, and of that, about 2 litres is water. There is a clear division, with the fuel being lighter sitting on top of the water, which is heavier. I'll dispose of that, and maybe check over the first 8 litres for use in the mower or something.smile0784 wrote: Just thinking

Of course the question also arises as to how I got 2.5 litres of water in the fuel tank...I'm guessing it just got in through the lid.

Re: Old boat fuel disposal
Could let the 8 liters sit for a while akd then try and seperate it again.
Could then put it back threw the boat with new petrol and the fuel filter should take the rest of the water out

Be careful there smile. People might think that’s a serious suggestion.smile0784 wrote:Could let the 8 liters sit for a while akd then try and seperate it again.

It’s not 2 litres of water that’s gotten into a 1000litre tank. We are talking about $9.80 worth of petrol here.
Who in there right mind would consider going out on the water with fuel they had siphoned the water out of?
Absolutely ludicrous.

Yep. Bad enough an old carby 2 stroke, but if it's a di 2 stroke or a 4 stroke it's big $$ to strip down and repair. Just use the lot as weed killer. Works a hell of a lot better than glyphosate tooducky wrote:Be careful there smile. Re: Old boat fuel disposal
not worth it guys, use it in the lawnmower or just use the stale fuel as a degreaser to clean up grease and **** like that in the shed..
