Re: Anchor Winch Suggestions
I have a capstan winch and am waiting for the day it fails then I can replace it with a drum winch I had a stress free in my last boat which was really good but at twice the price I would buy a lone star

Interesting videoTheGreatestGoat wrote:I just purchased a Savwinch. Cannot complain about the service I received and the product seems good, however I have only used it a couple of times.
Check out this video that I since watched: https://youtu.be/t66J1uhBpMI
Shoot out between the top brands. Probably would have swayed my opinion in Lone Star's way.

Re: Anchor Winch Suggestions
Lonestar without a doubt! Malki (owner) is a true gentleman who stands by his product. His company has the best "aftersales" in the marine industry bar none. All will sell you their product but "if" ever needed aftersales makes a huge difference, Most wont give u the time off day, where Lonestar stands true and strong. Now for the actual winch, Lonestar are built tough. I am a semi retired marine mechanic, boat fitter and have fitted used many.
No im not affiliated with them...Just a damn good product and outstanding company...

We have a Savwinch on a 5.25m Brooker Centre Console. Have had it for a year and a half now and had no issues. Could be a little bit quicker in my opinion but not sure this would be any different on other brands.

The video test is setup to massively show off the Loanstars pros and show off the other winches cons.TheGreatestGoat wrote:I just purchased a Savwinch. Cannot complain about the service I received and the product seems good, however I have only used it a couple of times.

IMO not a far test by any means.
Not knocking the loan star winch but other factors are also important. Corrosion resistance, free fall option, life of the gear box, overall gearing, speed of retrieval, drum capacity, will it fit ect.
Stress free, X winch, Bell Marine, Loan star are well know proven products.

Re: Anchor Winch Suggestions
Stress free seems the most common. Maybe I hv bee looking at streaker boats. So would my money be better off on stress free or lone star?
