Trailer failure eliminates fishing time... all fixed now

Post by smile0784 » Wed Aug 02, 2017 7:41 pm

Well on the big drive upto scarborough 25 hours 19hrs of driving but with a 40 min break every 3 hrs to feed the baby was agernising.
just outside toowomba i noticed the boat sitting wrong.
After a closer look the rear cross beam had snapped off and was sitting on the rear springs.
Well i thorough it cant go any further we kept driving
Arriving at 5pm no chance to have a closer look.
Next day i pulled the boat off and found the big problem.
700 mm of side channel was rusted and twisted when the rear beam broke off.

Getting it fixed tomorrow but cant fish now with 2 fishing days going into repairs.

OUCH
Wow mate, that's absolutely rooted !
Sorry for your predicament , Tell me, didn't you notice it before with those rust holes ?
Your lucky something catastrophic didn't happen while driving.
That should never have been taken on the road !
Hopefully they get it sorted for you quickly so you can get out and have a fish.

Glad it wasn't worse than a few lost days fishing. Pays to periodically inspect the trailer.

When i bought the boat few months back there was the rust patch at the rear of the trailer to the right of the pic but it didn't break when jabbed with a screw driver. The rest i didn't see cos the boat sits low over the mud guards with only a inch clearence so cant see the rest of the trailer.

Ment to be getting fisxed tomorrow then have to paint it in the arvo amd let to sure friday and then pack boat Saturday to head to bermagui sunday.

That hasn't happened over the last few months how haven't you noticed that when you have launched you boat recently?
