The benefit of having foam flotation is in case both the hull and floor were breached in an accident, not impossible seeing they're joined along or just above the waterline. Personally I didn't feel that just having a welded in floor was enough.smile0784 wrote:If the bilge is sealed why does it need more flotation?Trumpeter wrote:I used to own a Trailcraft and kind of miss it a bit, it was a solid boat and really stable but the ride was pretty harsh. They didn't come with any foam flotation or even a bilge pump so it would be worth wile looking into it if you haven't already. I was going to stuff mine full of as many pool noodles as possible via the inspection/access ports in the floor but ended up selling it.
What are the benefits of putting the noodles in there?

Now the catch is that you'll never have time to use it with the new baby!

Good idea. Ill lòok into it. How many peices would i need to put in the bilge for it to make a difference?Trumpeter wrote:The benefit of having foam flotation is in case both the hull and floor were breached in an accident, not impossible seeing they're joined along or just above the waterline. Re: New boat as baby present
I got the idea from an article I saw on a plate ally Coraline runabout which was stuffed with noodles and launched successfully without the bung in. I was going to use roughly one per 50kg seeing a single, solid noodle (not the ones with a hole) will float me @ 95kg. They were going to placed across the stringers so any water could freely drain under and air could circulate around them.smile0784 wrote:Good idea. Ill lòok into it.
