1st Boat

Post by reco » Wed Feb 01, 2017 11:35 am

hi guys, i'm sure this question pops up all the time ........ so sorry in advance :)

i'm about to buy my first boat.......never had anything before.

love my fishing, and want to use it for both fresh & salt water

i will want to go out by myself at times.....but more often that not will have my wife and 2 young boys (under 10 years old)

hopefully can find something that can also maybe handle a biscuit or something behind it when not fishing

so need something small enough that i can maneuver when im going alone on and off the trailer, but big enough to take the family

dont really want to spend anything more than $15k ............. new or used doesn't bother me.

my main questions i guess are;

fiberglass / aluminium ?
what size motor should i get ?
what length ?

fire away guys :)

Maybe look at getting the boat inspected and see how many hrs the boat has done.

When I was first looking at boats before deciding to go centre console I was looking closely at the Haines 470df should fit the bill at your budget without being too much boat to handle.

If you're really lucky you might find a Haines v17r in good nick in that price bracket with this boat you could own it for life with a few choice upgrades and care over the years. That will be my next hull I think.

You can buy my boat of me if you want.
5.2.mt quintrex caddy cab. Perfect for what you want.
Very similar to the alloy boat bowl posted.
Can do 30 knots so fast enough for pulling toys along.
Easy to single person launch, caddy cab provides some protection.
Can easilyput with car trailer

And only $10 k

Only issue is needs new canapy and it's 20 years old but is in really good condition for age.

Let me know if your interest and ill send you more details
