Post by laneends » Tue Jan 17, 2017 10:52 am

boat capsize WP

3k from Stoney point at close to dead low, sounds like they hit middle spit??

Did all the right things  , took an hour to retreive. Would have been more serious in the dead of winter.

Glad everyone was Ok

I have found that the navionics map is not all that accurate, so if he was following that it could be a contributing factor.

They do, but I've seen plenty of things on Navionics that aren't accurate that can't be explained by sand being moved around. For example it says the Barge Hole is only 15m deep when it's actually over 30m

And the danger marks are on the wrong side of the boat, according to the map.

It's either middle spit, tortoise bank or middle bank trying to cut across that's within 3km of stony. Must've been going hard to do that much to the boat
