heard from someone who deals with the VMR. They were down off Mchaffies. Ended up high and dry and then the tide started coming back in and threw them out of the boat from waves etc.
They then radioed, set off epirb and then flares when they got close to been picked up

Is Mchaffies that large sand bar area on the starboard side when heading down to the entrance?

That's the middle bank wolly. Mchaffies is on Phillip Island.

That was my next door neighbour that it happened to.. Ive spoken to his oldman but he doesn't know everything yet so don't know the full story at the moment

what was the wash up

So far I know the Nav system wasn't working properly which is why they got into dangerous waters and got broadsided by a wave.. the boat in the article/link isn't his boat, they haven't even found the boat yet
