Double braid rope

Post by Tackleberry » Wed Nov 16, 2016 1:37 am

Gday all i have been toying with the idea of changing all the ropes on my boat to double braid (except the anchor)

and because i take it as a matter of pride i splice all my ropes .

so i figure i better get some practice in eye splicing the stuff and all i will say is 3 strand is a walk in the park compared

to double braid any way this is my 1st attempt and i think i did ok , i can't wait to get some 10mm as this 6mm is a pain

to work with .

cheers TAC

Great job mate. My young Boone took up splicing and fix all our fenders and there great. All set at right height and with nice loop on the end. The spike is the secret makes it so much better.

Looks like a nice splice. Just be sure to get them really tight, I like to use some whipping around the base of the eye as though these splices are strong they can slip out if they jiggled and not under tension. I actually used the tow ball of 2 cars to put the Initial tension on my 8mm.
