Just thinking Woolley - it might be better to buy in anchors in bulk ,it could work out cheaper for you if you are going to leave them all over the bottom

Is it even 12mm, hard to tell by the photo, but it looks more like 8 to 10.
Get new chain from a decent supplier, not the cheapest you can find and you shouldn't have any more issues, I think that chain is a little light for the application(plus being cheap imported garbage, not designed for what it's being used for).

Chain guards whilst they make the chain nice and quite (I haven't used one) I have heard from several people that they have had exactly the same problem.
Chain doesn't dry and corrosion kills them.

Chain guard is worth it for sure. Makes a huge difference to how quiet the anchor is.

If the anchor chain failed the first time surely you would have had a look at the chain?

If that's off a new boat then Id say its just cr@p quality chain.

Given I anchor about twice a year I doubt it would be of much use for me ;-) .

i can pm you a good supplier of chain if you want i just bought 2 new ones and they are good quality

they have short link chain as well IMHO you need 8M to 10M of 12mm chain for that size boat .

That chains broken at the forged weld.Either crap chain or too much load or a combo of both

It must be crap chain because it had bent really easily.
