How does this boat measure up?

Post by smile0784 » Tue Jul 05, 2016 6:45 am

hi
still keeping my eye out for a boat I can put with my current car and decided I can go upto a plate boat but glass will be too heavy.
I fish western port, port phillip and bermagui and would like to do Portland.
I currently have a 5.2mt caddy cab quintrex and I think its a bit light for offshore work.

what do you think of this one?

Looks ok apart from the price.

I would want to know more regarding being repainted and keep in mind the motor is 16 years old, trailer is 11 years old.

Get an up to date doctor "H" software interface report on the motor from the owner, he will need to take it to a Honda marine dealer to plug it in, this will give you history on it's life, hours, any error codes, how many times it over heated, how many times it was at wide open throttle, how many hours did it troll, ect ect ect, secondly have a dealer use a dial indicator on the flywheel nut and lever under the flywheel up and down and measure the crankshaft end float to see if it's within specification, if the engine hasn't been serviced regularly the crankshaft thrust washers wear very fast and can fall out causing catastrophic failure.

This is only with large HP Honda engines I'm not familiar with other manufacturers diagnosis methods.
A cylinder compression test and a leak down test would also help to determine it's health.
He who has the most fishing rods WINS ! :ts:
