Re: Christening the new boat
If the waves are like that they will wet the skids which should be enough.
Just take it slow.

Yeah. That's it. Although i was hoping the bad weather would come after i had run in the motor. I couldn't go past 3000rpm. So couldn't gun it to see what happens haha.ducky wrote:Nice work mate. Might have been hairy but would give you a fair bit of confidence about what it can handle now.

Yeah skids were def. Splashed with water.frozenpod wrote:If the waves are like that they will wet the skids which should be enough.

My issue was the tight steering and throttle. And the fact i was being blown sideways and not having used a forward control before.
Few more practice runs in good weather and i it should be ok.

Re: Christening the new boat
Purple,
Probably the worst conditions to have a go for the first time. What I do with people that have never driven on or are in a new set up, is head to st Kilda ramp, during the week preferably, the place is deserted. Launch from there, just drive on drive off a dozen or so times, there's no waves and wind doesn't really effect it much there. That's the best place and time to just kind of get the feel for everything, find out how much throttle you need etc etc, then when you get adverse conditions your well versed with throttle, boat and just the feel of it. Wind and waves will test all but the experienced at the best of times anyway, its all a learning curve and every boat has something new to learn each time as well. good luck with it all.......

Re: Christening the new boat
Thought id bump this up as its already a year of ownership and time does indeed fly.
I just paid the rego for it.
Here's some latest pics including quite a few mods done over the past year.
I did all the work mostly myself With some help from my dad and other forum member snapperslayer. bar the casting deck frame that cheaterparts helped me with. (cause i dont know how to weld)
Trial fitting all the parts for the casting deck frame all welded and ready to go thanks to cheaperparts
rear casting deck platform being fabricated front casting deck platform being fabricated
rear casting deck finished front casting deck finished
How it sits currently.
added the sounder and motorguide and painted the centre console white and added some decals (Daiwa of course)
