Thanks for all the input guys. Going to be a tight squeeze then if we go with 3 people lol.
Reason I didn't want a kayak was I'm not comfortable being in one. Plus the boat gives me an option to take another person with me.
I'd like to go for a bigger boat but can't afford it.
Cheers

Mate just bought a quintrex 4200 busta.
Cost bout 10k
I tow it with my hyundai tucson 2.0l 4cyl
My 1.8lt astina would have done it better lol.
Great little boat, I was very surprised as the stability.
With a 30hp 2stroke we manage to hit 38kph at full throttle with us both at back of boat.
He has probably spent another 3k ontop of the purchase for a 54lb watersnake, lowrance hdi 5
Rod holders etc.

Just looked at the photos of a Smartwave 3500. It has a really flat bottom. I would suggest it is better suited to calm or inland waters rather than Port Philip Bay.
It would be fine for 2 on nice flat day but with some chop I think it be fairly uncomfortable.

thats the same car i have, so going by the weight of the quintrex (200 odd kg) i should be right to tow mine.

the boat would probably only go out on real calm days, so its going to be a bit frustrating but its safer i guess, we will only be going to the shallow reefs for pinkies and such, the snapper might be a possibility but not too far out.
since this will be a few first times for me i just wanted to be cautious with money spent hence the smaller boat.
it says it can seat 4 but fishing with 3 people will probably end up catching each other. :-o :-o :-o :-o
thanks for all the replies, appreciate it
cheers

The tucson city only has 500kg towing.
But it rated like that due to lack of power.
The chassis and brakes are more then capable of towing 1ton.
Drive it smart and u can tow more
