Re: Tohatsu motors
I've got a 2005 tohatsu 15hp that's yet to give me any problems, even running on fuel that's been sitting for 3-4 months.
I did a bit of research on them before I bought the boat coz I'd never heard of them and only real negatives were a pretty poor after sales service in aus when bought new.
They got a pretty good rep for being your basic tough as nails outboard and apparently are pretty widely used by surf clubs and pro fishermen for their durability.
And as has already been said, most of the smaller Japanese mercs are just rebadged tohatsu's.

Re: Tohatsu motors
5 years without a problem from my 25 hp 2st. It's a tohatsu in disguise (mariner)
I think tohatsu is actually owned by nissan.
