Securing wires in a tinny.

Post by Hardyakka » Sun Jan 22, 2017 10:31 pm

Hi all.

I am looking to rewire my tinny up after not really being too happy with it. The previous owner just had it hanging loose cable tied together. It worked but sloppy. I'm wondering what people use or do to keep it tidy and looking schmick.

Thanks in advance.

Get some of the black plastic "sleeve" (for want of a better word). Supercheap list it on their website. Slip that over your wiring and grab some stick on pads that you can run a cable tie through (Supercheap also list them) and have fun.

ive got a 3.75mtr tinny.
Battery sits up the front in a box.
i have a fuse panel wired up to that, with a few push pull switches and terminal blocks for all the wires.
I run the wires up the side of the boat in split tubing where i can, or cable tie and silicone it to the inside of the gunnel.

Could be a little neater but it suits what i need.

split loom tubing is what you need as these guys above have mentioned then secure it with some cable ties
it looks nice and neat that way, and if you boat has those wide gunwales you can run under them without it being visible.

Visit local Auto Electrician and tell him what you want to do - A sketch will help / Will also advise on Fuses Required / Wire Weight / Terminal Types etc.

He may also be able to make you a loom.

I used to work for Burton Cables in Melbourne who made Holden / Ford / Mitsubishi Vehicle looms.

Have you remove original Loom?? - If Not, do a sketch of ALL of the Various Terminal locations as well as the Wire Sheath / plastic cover colour at each terminal

Am located in Yackandandah, N/E Vic. // Not sure where you are located.

PM me if you like

Good Luck

As guy's have said split tubing or you could also use spiral wrap to tidy it up a bit.I used split and just used stickyback's to hold it up out of the way under the gunnels and to the ribs where it run's under the false floor.Switches right next to my seat and battery up the front.
