I had the 5inch chirp for 4 years now and now i have the 7 i douted why i bought the 5 should have just bought the 7 strait away.
Go the 7 strait out if you can afford it or the 5 inch is better if you dont do split screens

Thanks, looks like l will be getting a 7 inch screen when l can afford it.
No point wasting money on a smaller screen and then having to go and buy something larger later on.

I've got a 4xdsi on the kayak at arms length away. It's perfectly readable in all but blazing midday sun (near impossible no matter screen size to see in those conditions). If you're in a rush it'll be fine, if not bigger is always better

I have the 4 inch and am more than happy with it on a yak, would go 7 inch if on a faster moving and bigger vessel. love my 4 though.

Hey mate

I just upgraded my old 4 inch (non chirp) to a 7 inch upon recommendations from here and I have 0 regrets.

Here is a photo to help give you a reference on the screen/ unit size difference.

My boat is 3.5m long, doesnt matter where i stand i can see the screen well even when split.
