Hope much do you want to spend and what type of video do you want.
You can get most of them to do full hd but certain ones can also do 4k video which is superb but costs a bit and also takes up more memory and battery life.
Id say any model that can do 1080p and has a removable battery is the ones id be looking at.
You can get cheap gopros but the catch is no removable battery so its useless to you.

Re: whats a good go pro or similiar for a boat
I've got a gopro black edition and the battery life on them is **** even with the battery pack. What ive done is install a ciggie lighter near where its mounted and have it plugged in all the time so its got constant power. Then with a good 64 card I can pretty much record for nearly 5 hours straight. That's on 1080 quality also. so if you went down in quality you could record even longer.
I also have a Contour Roam3. Its an awesome little camera. Battery last a lot longer than the gopro and I like that its one button to start recording then the same button to stop recording/switch it off. This makes the battery last ages. Pretty much the same recording quality as the gopro which is very good. Its also a lot cheaper, $190-$200
Hope this helps.
Cheers, Anth
