You get different results if you use 50hz or 200hz and which part of the cone the fish passes through the arch is created when the fish passes from one side of the cone to the other. If you are stationary a fish can appear as a vertical line

I only ever found one arche at the time I think by the time I anchor down and burley up the fish is gone. I will give it another try over the weekend with those settings adjustments.
Thank you guys very much for the advice much appreciated.

when you seen one, usually they are just travelling past, if there were a few or lots of them, then that's a school and you might get luckier.

what sounder have you got, bream and few other smaller fish only show up as blobs not arches.
It's a Humminbird 385ci. It picks up structure fine, I could see every detail of submerged trees at Blue Rock. It just doesn't really differentiate structure from fish or floating weed.
were you on structure scan, that usually only shows blobs for fish, unless they are big fish.

I can't confirm it was a snapper, I can however confirm that it is a fish. It could be a salmon, or another type of fish.
