Lorance 7 series questions

Hi I have just baught a lowrance hd7 it says it has down scanner but when I use it it shows nothing like the pictures on the box. Or do I have to buy a seperate unit to make it work??? Also the stupid gps always shows me that I'm in Texas lol even though iv put in port phillip bay it still dosnt remember anyone can help?

Hey kc,
Is the unit a touch screen model? I know the hds 7 touch has inbuilt structure scan which you run both the skimmer transducer for sonar and the structure transducer for down and side imagining.

I'm not 100% sure (someone else might be able to confirm) the standard hds 7 needs to be plugged into an optional structure scan box (I think it's called lss2) and still run both transducers. With this set up you should have side and down imagining

As for the gps, a mate had the same issue with his hds7 touch. He ended up taking it back and getting it swapped. Not sure if it was an actual error or he just never found how to work it out (I had a look and could find anything either). Anyway hope that helps

Correct.

Also what map pack did you get?

Maybe the map off the unit....probably have to purchase the aus gold map

Not sure what its worth now but it was 200 a few yrs ago

Need to change the settings from lowrance to navionics if you have the gold card, then it shoukd change map to australia, otherwise it might be on the demo setting still. Cheers aussie

Thanks guys so I need to buy that down scanning thing seperate? The gps navionics part workd it's shows Australian waters now, where to u buy the slss down / side scan box?
