I have a gme 406 has about 3 years to run came with 10 yr battery. It is almost the same price to have the battery replaced which only has a 6 year life and can only be done once.
I intend to replace mine with a gme 603g same as the 403 but has gps you can buy them under $300 a float free would be nice but are more than double the price. Do I need float free probably not even if rolled by a freak wave I have an automatic life jacket and would be able to retrieve the gps I don’t think the boat would sink.

Ive looked into a few of the options recently as mine needed to be replaced. I came up with this one https://www.bcf.com.au/p/digital-406mhz ... 61040.html it's the same price at all the retailers at the moment. I'll go with the manual activation, if you feel concerned that you might not get access to it in an emergency, maybe consider the auto activation. great piece of mind when needed
