I see battery life is important, I personally therefore would not look at buying the addon touchscreen which is available as it really eats up battery life.
As far as charging batteries, its easy to wire in a USB charging adapter to your 12v. You can buy the cigarette style adapters where you can just cut the end off and run to pos and neg.......there are probably others on the market if you do some homework.
