Bait Rocket Launcher

Post by FishnMiss » Sun Mar 23, 2014 11:27 am

I was wondering how to get my line out further land based and was thinking about using a slingshot??
I came across this clip on YouTube:
http://m.youtube.com/watch?v=Y3PX74gr9RM" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
I wonder if there is a simple portable device one could use when you have to walk long distances or have to climb rocks?

Has anyone tried any easy mechanical methods to get a longer cast?
Thanks.

I like your idea FC I can see a use for that even when not fishing

Longer rods and better teqnique are your best bet to get it out further.

This.

Yesterday morning I watched a mate cast a saltist 50 overhead loaded with 40lb mono and 100lb leader around 90m. Earlier that morning he and I were throwing big poppers around 60m with 50lb braid, all landbased. Its all in having the right gear and the right technique.

Take the time to check out the Australian Surfcasting forums. We have a few regulars that post here but that place is a wealth of information on casting techniques and they are all super friendly people.

Without asking too many questions i've got my casts with my 9 footer from 55ish metres to 122. JS and a few of the other guys post here sometimes as well, check out the Surf Fishing forum for some really good technical vids.

This seems like an incredible waste of time money and effort that could be spent actually fishing.

I was hoping to get my line out 200+ Metres.
When the boys of balloon fishing off the piers (in the right conditions) they are letting the line run up to around the 300 Metre mark.
Considering I'm still relatively new to fishing maybe I need to take the plunge and tie leaders on the front. I think I've had 5 baited Hooks n Sinkers go twang & fly off into the sunset because I was trying too hard to get a good cast & that's been on 50Lb line (I guess I gotta learn technique)
And yes the bail arm was up every time :crazy:
