Also, I have one more question. Have any of you seen leatherjacket being caught around there? They are one of my favourite eating fish!

Thanks Seb, even though this spot is still an hour away by train, its the best place i'm gonna get for a chance to catch squid and leatherjackets. Who knows, maybe it will become my favourite "local" spot haha. I'll let you know how I go.Seb85 wrote: ↑Thu Jan 16, 2020 9:30 pmLeather jacket, whiting and squid share the same area or habitat. So usually if there's one of them, there's all of them. Doesn't hurt to try. I've fished one spot once and caught king george whiting, leather jacket, red mullet, grass whiting, wrasse, all in one spot. Weed bed with sand holes.
Bring 15 jigs mate, it's snag central there.GregExplores wrote: ↑Thu Jan 16, 2020 9:03 pmAwesome, I will go down to that spot next week then! Im fishing land-based but hopefully I can find the squid there and not loose too many jigs, I can only fish during the day so hopefully they show up before the eveningsbowl wrote: ↑Thu Jan 16, 2020 8:21 pmPlenty of squdin that area,Seniorfisho wrote: ↑Thu Jan 16, 2020 8:10 pmI've caught many Whiting from the end of that rockwall but casting back towards the shore, never seen any squid caught there
if you want ljs and squid my advice is to go to Sorrento there are tons and once you find them you dont stop hooking and missing bites.GregExplores wrote: ↑Thu Jan 16, 2020 9:05 pmAlso, I have one more question. Thanks for all the help everyone! With float jigging do you just cast out and leave it there and make sure you are watching if something takes it and How shallow do you guys reckon it is there? If i keep getting snagged i might move to gem pier to try chase some flatties.bowl wrote: ↑Fri Jan 17, 2020 8:48 amTrue between Gloucester willy time all car park Teck I've only lost 3 jig.Robbie1950 wrote: ↑Fri Jan 17, 2020 5:22 amBring 15 jigs mate, it's snag central there.GregExplores wrote: ↑Thu Jan 16, 2020 9:03 pmAwesome, I will go down to that spot next week then! If jigging the it's about a 2-3 second count then jig.
Best option is float jigs/ silver whiting out.
Set up a pinky ,kgw rod n have a few slugs on hand for the salmon.
