Telescopic combo

Post by Time Poor » Tue Aug 08, 2017 9:32 am

Could anyone recommend a 2-4Kg telescopic combo up to the $200 range? The lighter the better. Tia.

Any particular reason you want a telescopic?
:-D

Travel rods are pretty portable these days.

does it need to be telescopic?
or will a 3 piece travel rod be enough?

The only telescopic rod i can remember seeing recently was one from BCF savage gear brand i think it was.. and it was reasonably expensive.

its actually on sale atm..

Shimano Beastmaster 9' Travel at BCF folds into 4 i think. I remember i had one in the boot, paired with a Shimano Sedona 5000, spooled with 20lb Kato Mono. All up about $180.00 - $190.00 from memory. Served me really well..

I'd like to simply pack it in the rucksack and have two hands free. Thx for the replies btw, keep em coming.

x2 for the Beastmaster. I have two of them in 10/11 ft length which pack into 5 sections. Have caught many fish from 12kg African catfish to 8kg GT from the beach on them. Solid rods with a nice action. I could fit both into a single short rod tube in my suitcase to go on a plane. Very compact pack-down.
The 9' version will serve you well

what are you planning to do with the combo? for example hiking for bass would exclude some of the longer rods suggested

Even look at getting a SHIMANO RAIDER TRAVEL 703 BREAM SPIN ROD, 2-4 kilo Rod, 2-10gm casting weight.
7 feet long and breaks down into 3 pieces.

makes perfect sense to pack in a suitcase.
Caught a good number of fish on that ,
Pair it with a SHIMANO SEDONA 2500FI REEL .

https://www.anglerswarehouse.com.au/ have a sale on right now and u should get the combo for around 200$

If you want to go real light , look at the Daiwa GenBlack Shortbite, 1-5gms casting
