Redfin locations within or close to Melbourne

Post by Just835 » Sat Jul 22, 2017 2:21 pm

Hey guys,
I am new to the forum and was wandering if there were any fishing locations for Redfin close to Melbourne. I have been searching for quite a long time and am yet to find one with decent size Reddies. Any help is appreciated. Thanks.

Was at Ferntree gully quarry the other day and saw about 10 swimming in the shallows near the rocks there sizing from 5-35cm .
I've never had luck at Rowville lakes but Jells park I've seen 1 caught on live bait.

You can find them occasionally in the yarra. As they aren't populous yarra redfin tend not to as be stunted as some of the lakes.

5cm? You have extra ordinary eye sight.

Brave 5 cm fish swimming beside a 35 cm that eats anything that moves.

They were quite easy to spot with no wind, they were literally half a metre away from me.

I've caught the majority of my Redfin in the Wimmera near places like Horsham and Murtoa. My favourite lake to go fishing is Lake Marma I've caught some beauty's there

Try Karkarook lake in Moorabbin there are plenty of redfin in there and you may pick up the trout as well.
