Crowd funding a Melbourne pier ...

Post by bilby » Fri Apr 21, 2017 8:27 pm

I've had this thought a few times while out and about looking for new land based spots in Melbourne - how difficult would it be for the Melbourne fishing community to crowd fund a decent sized pier in a great location that is close to where many people fish / live, with fish holding structure? E.g. out the back of Williamstown oval for a few hundred metres? What do others think?

Its worth doing. But red tape galore goes to ownership, permits and planning I guess.

Yep, awesome idea, but it would be a full time job obtaining the permits etc, and the red tape would drive you crazy.
If you take it on, think votes. If you can convince councils and the bosses of government departments there is a vote win in it then you will be half way to obtaining permits.
