Hazelwood Pondage

Post by Tarsh » Mon Jan 02, 2017 4:16 pm

Hi everyone,

I've returned to this forum (& to fishing) after many years of minimal activity the bug has finally got me back.

Quick report on Hazelwood trip last week. Purchased some lures from Compleat angler Dandenong and headed down hoping to secure a Barra. Fished off the jetty near the caravan park and also near the south side of the pondage and go doughnuts.

Kids had a great time though catching tropical fish off the jetty on light gear.

Will try again in the weeks to come but it seems like its very difficult even for those on boats.

cheers.

Trash persistence pays off mate keep trying. The fellas at complete angler Dandenong are good value purchased some lures off them and had a chat on the way past the other week. Caught fish on both lures purchased.

It's a good option over the rock wall areas BM. Keen to work on using subsurface stickbaits over the shallows in low light times. Watch this space when it comes to that method.

Thanks. It's my first time fishing using lures (other than metals for salmon) so bit of a learning curve. I had thought that location at the pondage was the key to a barra but I'm wrong if ome was caught off the jetty.

Hi guys. Round two at hazelwood today...landbased. no dice on the barra. Just out of curiousity, with lure fishing how long do people generally persist in terms of casts on a particular lure eg. 10,30,50,100 casts???

As I'm new to using lures I'm curious about this. Thanks.
