Hypothetically if I was to fish the rocks at Kilcunda i'd be putting either a big squid head or a whole fresh squid under a balloon about 200 out.

I lived at Kilcunda for 2 years when I was a teenager and I spent many hours/days/weeks with local friends fishing off the rocks. I never caught a snapper of any size and never saw anyone else catch one. We caught lots of parrot fish and sometimes some good size leather jackets or sweep and an occasional salmon on the edge of the surf beach. We even managed a few crays at night off the rocks when there was a very low tide but you really had to know the right spots. That's not to say don't give it a go - you might get lucky!

The Punch Bowl fishes better. I was fishing Kilcunda rocks in 2014 & heading back to the car park met a bloke with a huge snapper from the bowl. But yeah the balloon might work too.
