Anyone get snapper at brighton rock wall from carpark?

Post by Lbsnapperhunter » Tue Jun 30, 2015 7:50 pm

Hi fishos I'm new to this site and have rediscovered fishing again after 3 little ones in 3 years ( they are growing up more now so this allows me to get out of the house more often!). Just checking google earth and I see there is a big carpark with a Rock wall down from Were street. Does anyone fish there for big snapper any with any sort of success? Looks shallow and snaggy but might be worth a go in seas on a SW troppo wind. Any replies appreciated thanks - Phil

A couple of the surfcasting guys fish there sometimes.

If you want to fish out of the back of your car for snapper Black Rock is fairly local and I think probably more consistent.

Thanks for the reply guys, will give it a go this season. I noticed the black rock carpark also, looks promising. Sometimes if it's raining its more comfortable to fish out of a car! Gonna give this area up to brighton a good go with the land based spots, in particular the breakwalls and Hampton groynes I think . Cheers Phil

Were those scotch's starting to kick in mate? Lol

All the best LBSH! During or straight after a big blow is the go, and during the cover of darkness when those red fellas come into the shallows for a feed. That's when I'd be hitting these LB areas for a decent red. Fresh bait can often make all the difference too. September and October will be the better months, and will start dwindling off during November, as the water temp picks up and the fish head to deeper water. By Jan the water temp has picked up, and the fish start going into spawning mode.
Hope this can be of assistance. There are no set rules to the game, but this is "basically" how it works.
Good luck and looking forward to some great pics in time to come.
Cheers!
