docklands last week

Post by Yi1978 » Wed Apr 26, 2017 8:04 am

been a member of this forum for a while and haven't contributed much

went to docklands last week and stayed for around 4 hours, it was a good session with 8 fish landed ( 2 trevally, 3 bream, 2 pinkies, 1 small mackeral i guess? :( ), noticed the breams are getting really fat now...

only took the larger pinkie home for dinner :-D

Great catches!

... what I wouldn't give to catch a yellowtail in that area ... and then "throw it back" ...

you never know, one time i had a bite in docklands and as soon as I lift up my rod i felt a pretty powerful fish on the hook. It was taking my lines even the drag was set to around 7kg,,,,so i tightned up my drag to max 9kg in order to avoid him snag me.....eventually l lost the fish,,,the hook came out after a couple of mins battle and my 5kg rod was bending like never before .....i can hardly handle the rod by just one hand....oh, well....wouldn't be able to land it anyway..... :water:

there's a few things at the docks that'll do that to you.

One of the oddest experiences I ever had down at the docks was throwing out a sliver of pilchard for bream and pinkies -getting a bite and hooking the fish, which felt like any of the other 28 cm pinkies I had caught on the day. Then half way in, the rod buckled over and I started losing drag for a moment or two - then as quickly as it had happened, the fight returned to normal. When I finally landed the fish, it was indeed a 28cm pinky ... with a bleeding, half moon of a bite with fine teeth marks right across the fish. I was fishing with size 6 hooks at the time, so no chance of hooking the beast that attacked my pinky, but it was definitely surprising!
